I am but a shallow mind

tossed by the wind,

like an abandoned dust

rushing to settle, because i must

but will you think of me thus?

easy to be danced across, a river

belittle my mild silvery toss

and bemoan my path as unclever

but i rise in the dryness

when the rains fear the thirsty earth

and the browning shoots wish for death

when you think it is the peak of my weakness

i am shallow indeed

but my bed you cannot see

it is as deep as greed

unpredictable as the sea
